Hi everyone,
FACT IS: Trance is financially not interesting for the big music industry, which puts us in the unique position of being part of a musical genre which is NOT dominated and manipulated by industry giants such as Sony/BMG, Warner Brothers and the likes... This alleged "problem" is in fact a blessing in disguise: WE ALL can shape the present and future of this scene and it's music. It's a beautiful opportunity which we should not miss!
Unfortunately our ability to deal with conflicts and problems in this scene is dangerously underdeveloped, which might sooner or later be our own undoing.
So it feels good to see that Psyport Users are actually up for a good discussion and some honest reflection, unlike many of other forums. We need to keep doing that, in
order to keep the scene and music alive if we want to progress and evolve, rather than have this movement decline into a temporary fad that will eventually eat up itself.
It might be a bit uncomfortable, but we all have to agree that not everything is fine and right in our little LaLa-Land called Psy-Trance.
Over time I am planning strike up a several discussions (with provocative titles so that people actually sit and read them;) about different topics to keep the threads a bit focused.
I will have a thing or two to suggest about music marketing, downloads and our general inability to utilize contemporary technology for marketing and selling music and other digital art. Other things to come will be about music production, psychedelic awareness and education, substance use and abuse, festival conduct and some general issues about the way we are handling problems and difficulties in our scene. I hope to motivate a lot of people to write whatever comes to mind. You don't need to give big sermons if you don't feel like.
It was nice to see that a good discussion got together over my last topic "PSY is short for PUSSY!?!? Or WHAT?" which is still going on. I hope Psyport discussions will continue in this honest and straightforward manner.
